Finland, Svensk Ungdom
Danica got involved in politics during her studies, and has been active on all levels of LYMEC member organisation Svensk Ungdom (SU) since then, starting out as president for a local branch in 2008 and leading up to being a member of the national board 2013-14. Danica has also been active in the motherparty SFP, mainly on local level and in the international committee.
During her years of involvement in Svensk Ungdom Danica developed a passion for international politics, especially on the European level. She has been an active member of the International Committee of SU since 2008, and was the International Officer of SU 2012-13. Danica has also represented Svensk Ungdom in the international committee of the national youth council Allianssi, as vice president in 2012 and president in 2013.
Danica has experience from various youth organisations and both domestic and European politics. She holds a Master’s degree in political science from Åbo Akademi University. Professionally she has worked as the personal assistant of the chairperson of the Swedish parliamentary group in the parliament of Finland for three years, and as communications officer in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland before relocating to Brussels to work for LYMEC.
Danica is a true believer in the European project, and wishes to see the European liberal youth at the forefront of the development towards a more open, liberal Europe where diversity is seen as a strength and as an enriching part of society, and where people are seen as individuals with the ability to make their own choices. She also believes that the European Union is an ongoing process that is far from being ready, and that we can have an impact on the result. We don’t necessarily need more EU, but we need a better EU.
