On 1 November 1980 was held in Bonn, the first Federal Congress of the Young Liberals. The history of JuLis has three unique features: First, the establishment of Young Liberals is based solely on a personal initiative of young members of the FDP and against the will of the then party leadership. The second resulted in the recognition of the Young Liberals as the only and official youth organization of the FDP in 1983 to replace that for the first time a party to its former youth organization, the German Young Democrats (Judo), a new one. Furthermore, the JuLis 1990 the first all-German youth organization in the united Germany. At the beginning of JuLis were a few scattered young FDP members who are in the strongly left drifting Youth Judo Federation no longer felt at home and in groups of young liberals in the FDP have met in the late seventies. In January 1979, then formed a coordinating committee at the federal level to summarize the activities in the different groups. After a few meetings to draft a constitution and a number of key messages such coordination committee then convened the first national convention of the Young Liberals for the first and 2 November 1980 one. Already in October 1980, the first national associations of JuLis had been founded, so that the base of the new association slow stable. For the first national chairman was 22 years ago, Hans-Joachim Otto selected from Frankfurt. After the Association founded, it was the goal of all, the move to a recognition of the new FDP July. So still in Lower Saxony in 1980 recognized the FDP was the first national association, the local JuLis as a working group of the FDP and put the JuLis similar, the judo in Lower Saxony. This trend continued in 1981/82, almost all national associations. By the disintegration of the social-liberal coalition on 17 September 1982 left the officials of the Young Democrats, the party. Under this impression improved the chances of JuLis, new youth wing of the FDP, which was then fixed on the FDP Federal Party in November 1982. At the same time the part-chairman Hans-Joachim Otto in the FDP Federal Executive Board was elected. In November 1983, finally broke the Bonn Guido Westerwelle the now recovered from the Hesse state, Hans-Joachim Otto as national chairman of July. Since the political recognition by the FDP was developed from the weak association is a nationwide organization working youth organization. The political successes within and outside the FDP led to a rapid consolidation of the situation. Guido Westerwelle remained until 1988, Chair of the Young Liberals. After that first led Georg Neubauer and then Beppo Brem to July. Then Christoph Schenk was acting national chairman. With the fall in the former GDR changed then the focus of July. Because even the end of 1988 was based next to the FDJ, an independent youth organization in the Liberal Democratic Party, which then received in November 1989, final name young liberal reaction (Julia) and officially as DDR-wide active youth organization under the umbrella of the Liberal Democratic Party to the public went. After initial contacts with the West German JuLis the East German Julia, and mutual visits, intensified by organizational support and common political projects of cooperation. After a very difficult merger negotiations, particularly on the statute and the self-image of all-German Association took place on 8th-9th September 1990, the Unification Congress of Julia and JuLis the Reichstag in Berlin instead. This first Federal Congress of the now all-German Youth Association of the FDP Birgit Homburger C. was elected to the National Chairman of Blaubeuren. After Birgit Homburger was able to move in the same year in the German Parliament and helped shape two years the process of unification of the associations and their political direction, chose the 7th National convention in Essen 1993 Ralph Lange of Wesel as Chairman of the Federation. On the 10th Federal Congress in Bad Salzuflen 1995 Michael Kauch National Chairman and managed the fortunes of the Young Liberals to April 1999. He was succeeded by Daniel Bahr from Muenster. At the 18th Federal Congress in Dresden, he became the new national chairman elected in July. Daniel Bahr led the JuLis over five years. In this period not only increased the number of members to nearly 11,000 young people, including the number of members grew steadily in July. Daniel Bahr moved, even in 2002, a German in the Bundestag. In March 2004 he gave up 28 Federal congress in Magdeburg, again to run for July-National Chairman. Jan Dittrich followed him from Darmstadt. After his early resignation took over for a few weeks of the MEP and deputy. National Chairman Alexander Alvaro, the leadership of the association. During the 30th Federal Congress was then the Bonn student John Bird elected national chairman. Liberal youth organization in Germany: The Young Liberals, or just JuLis were the first all-German Youth Association. Even before the unification of Germany, the JuLis have joined forces. It was formed in September 1990 from the Young Liberals action of the GDR (JULIA) and the West German Young Liberals, a new youth organization. Today, the Young Liberals about 11 500 members, of whom over 1,000 are from the new federal states. While the JuLis consolidate in western Germany, they are in the new countries is still under construction. The JuLis are the youth wing of the FDP: This does not mean that all members of JuLis must be a member of the FDP, but that means that we want to implement our political ideas and the FDP. To do the JuLis by Brash, confident, and sometimes a little stubborn voice their positions. Already almost classic is the image of the Young Liberals as yeast in the dough of the FDP. change Mere dissatisfaction with parties and politics nothing. We are in fact convinced that you can only change through policy and stimulate policy. And therefore we should look for in the FDP for the best solutions. Only active participation, initiative and dedication will help to solve the current and future problems. Especially the Young Liberals fall for that very reason also problems of the coming generations, free from thinking in terms of office. The problems of our generation, we take in the great policy and call on the FDP to consider this. That is why the JuLis understood as a liberal lobby of youth. The basis for the policies of JuLis are the liberal principles. They give the individual takes precedence over groups, associations and the state. The expansion of freedom in government, business and society are at the forefront of our actions. In humanistic tradition responsibility does in connection with freedom of the social issues of this world. Our policy is based on the tolerance of dissent, are not absolute truths for the young liberals.
