A Liberal Vision for Europe

July 26, 2019 at 4:00pm - July 28, 2019

A Liberal Vision for Europe

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 26 - 28 July 2019 Right after the European elections, LYMEC will gather young visionaries to discuss the Future of Europe - not just as a concept but putting forward concrete ideas for what sort of reforms are needed to move Europe forward in this new upcoming mandate. We will compare the different ideas for reforming our Union, the different “Future of Europe” scenarios, the ideas for more/less, bigger/smaller European Union. The participants are asked to write essays on the topic that will later be compiled to a publication on the Future of Europe. To explore those topics, the European Liberal Forum is organising a workshop with the support of LYMEC and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Sarajevo in July. Session topics

  • The Europe of today - what really doesn’t work, what we do not communicate well
  • Council, Parliament, Commission - the current state of affairs;
  • The Liberal vision to institutional change;
  • The five scenarios for the Future of Europe - what should be our next chapter?;
  • Accession countries - the way forward;

This workshop will include sessions with experts on the different topics, as well as contributions from the participants themselves. The participants will be required to draft a paper of minimum 1000 words on the topic when applying for the workshop. The essays will be presented during the event and will later be part of a publication. Participants were chosen according to the quality of their papers GUIDELINES:

  • Original work, minimum 1000 words.
  • Word file, rectified margins, Times New Roman 12, space 1.5.
  • Highly recommended to include references, data research and possibly - links to online sources - both as footnotes (using the references option in Word) and as a complete reference list in the end of the paper.
  • Give your essay a title
