We are starting the year with plenty of new projects: a new working group, an event in Warsaw and, of course, the IMS elections.
Read the information below and send your applications to [email protected].
Comparative European Liberal Policies
LYMEC is calling for a working group on Comparative European Liberal Policies. The aim of the working group is to gather information and create a database of Liberal Policies on various topics. The working group will collect policies from all LYMEC Member organizations on specific topics and then make a comparative analysis of the different national approaches to each policy, find similarities and differences. This project will constitute a comparative database of European Liberal policies.
You will get more detailed information and project’s timeline once you sign up. The working group will be lead by Vladan Lausevic (IMS).
If you are interested in this project and would like to be a member of the working group, please contact our office at [email protected] with email subject “comparative european liberal policies working group”.
If you have some questions, comments, or suggestions, please contact Jelena at [email protected].
Tackling regional disparities in the EU
The European Liberal Forum is organizing an event with the support of LYMEC, in cooperation with Projekt: Polska, Institute Novum, Haya van Someren Stichting/VVD International and with the financial support of the European Parliament in late March.
The goal of this event will be to assess the problems and opportunities arising from regional disparities, and how to allow a harmonious growth throughout the European Union in the context of global challenges, such as free trade agreements with other parts of the world, technological developments and economic shifts like de-industrialization.
Participants of the Warsaw seminar should apply between the 15th of January and the 13th of February with a text of at least five thousand characters on one of two topics:
· Regional disparities: facts, problems and solutions
· Getting back to growth: clues for Europe in a global economy
We will select the authors of (up to) the best 20 texts to come to our event. We encourage everyone interested to apply.
There are no participation fees. Participants will have food and accommodation costs covered during the seminar and will receive travel reimbursements of up to 150 euros above the first 50 euros of travel costs. Furthermore, the authors of the ten best texts will receive an additional 100 euros prize, regardless of travel costs.
The ten best texts (five per topic) will be published in a book.
LYMEC’s Spring congress will take place in the 1st of May this year, and as such we are hereby launching a call for applications to the position of IMS delegate.
Delegates of Individual Members are the representatives of the section in our Congresses and are elected for a one year mandate. They are furthermore responsible towards the Bureau member in charge of the Individual Members’ Section and are expected to cooperate with him/her in activities and initiatives seeking to strengthen IMS, such as the IMS event, this year taking place in Riga, during the Baltic Pride.
End of the Application Period: 13 of March
Start of the Elections: 20 of March
