Bring the Ecocide to Justice!
LYMEC condemns Russia's destruction of the Nova Kakhovka Dam and the humanitarian and ecological catastrophe it has caused. The ecocide has to be brought to justice. Slava Ukraini!
On 6 June, the Nova Kakhovka Dam, situated on the Dnieper river and separating Russian-occupied Kherson and Crimea, was destroyed by Russian forces. This is yet another devastating crisis for Ukraine, affecting thousands of innocent lives and the region's ecosystem.
The destruction of the dam is causing catastrophic flooding and putting 16,000 human lives and the environment in immediate danger. A state of emergency has been declared, and we have to speak out to condemn this latest act of ecocide and terrorism.
European Council President Charles Michel shares our grave concerns by calling the blasts a war crime.
