Digital Assembly #2 - 2024

Digital Assembly 2024-II

Charting a Liberal Path to tackle the far-right and far-left

Dear liberal friends,

We hope you are enjoying the summer time!

In our constant efforts to increase the amount of opportunities to meet the current leadership and discuss together the main issues we are facing today in Europe, it is time for our second LYMEC Digital Assembly of 2024!

This event (already our #9 Digital Assembly) will take place online on Saturday, 24th August 2024, from 10h00 am to 13h00 pm CEST (Vienna time). This event is supported by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) - European Dialogue

The agenda will be as follows:

  • PART A - The topic of the event will be ‘Charting a Liberal Path to tackle the far-right and far-left’. As 2024 is an election year in many countries, the discussion around how to navigate and mitigate the influence of extreme political ideologies becomes even more crucial to ensure democratic stability and effective governance. Attendees will be split in two smaller rooms facilitated by local experts. The two sessions will be: “Embracing liberal ideas in crowded spaces” and “The liberals’ role in upholding European values in the rise of extremism”. You have the opportunity to choose the session you wish to attend by switching breakout room on Zoom during the event.
  • PART B - Coming back to a plenary session, both groups will have the chance to bring the group discussions together, to share outcomes and present liberal ideas to tackle political extremism.
  • PART C - The last part of our Digital Assembly will be dedicated to the LYMEC Bureau presenting what has been done so far since their election at the LYMEC Spring Congress 2024 in Brussels, and what the plans and actions for the coming months are. This will be primarily an opportunity for you to ask questions and share your concerns/comments with the current leadership. Questions or comments for Part C can be sent to [email protected] and [email protected] anytime ahead of the event, otherwise you are welcome to ask for the floor during the event!
