RAINBOWS FOR RUSSIA
Anti-gay sentiment and stigmatisation is not only on the rise in Russian society, it is also fuelled by the Duma recently passing the law “Propaganda of Nontraditional Sexual Relations”, which restricts the freedom of expression of the LGBT community by banning public discussion of LGBT related topics in front of minors.
For LYMEC, the European Liberal Youth, this development is simply unacceptable. The discrimination must stop and action must be taken to ensure the safety and freedom of every Russian citizen.
To show our support to the Russian LGBT community and raise awareness about the critical development we have initiated the “Rainbows for Russia” campaign and that’s why we need you!
It’s quite simple – all you need is yourself, a camera, crayons, and a piece of paper. Draw a rainbow, write a supportive statement and tweet #RainbowsForRussia.
Take a picture of yourself holding the image, email it to [email protected], and we’ll share it on our Facebook page.
