LIBERTAS - Call for Editorial and Writers Team

[Call for Editorial Team: Open to ALL Members]

Dear Young Liberals,    Here in the LYMEC Bureau we are working hard to improve Libertas, and as part of this improvement, we are restructuring the editorial team.   In the future, Libertas will have a team of 8 Editors, and an uncapped team of Writers. If you are interested in being involved in Libertas, please read the role descriptions below, and follow the necessary steps to apply:   Editors: The position of Editor will require a greater level of commitment than the position of Writer. In particular, you will be expected to contribute at least 6 articles per year. You will also be expected to attend regular meetings (at least once per month) and to take an active role in sharing and promoting Libertas both within LYMEC and beyond.  In addition to this, you may be asked to perform other tasks, such as proofreading and editing, reaching out to MOs and interview subjects, and taking on responsibility for a particular subject portfolio. Extra tasks will depend on your background and abilities - you will have a chance to shape your own role!   Writers:  The position of Writer will require less commitment, and would be a really good opportunity to start getting involved with Libertas and LYMEC more generally. Ideally, you should be submitting at least two articles per year. As a Writer, you will receive a monthly update from the Editors’ Team, requesting new articles and pitching new ideas. You will be encouraged to pitch your own ideas and work with other Writers/ the Editors to come up with new proposals.   Why should I apply?  Getting involved with Libertas will give you a chance to shape the future of the publication. As a Writer or an Editor, you will have the opportunity to improve your writing, editing, and communication skills in English. As an Editor, you will have the chance to take on responsibility for a particular portfolio, allowing you to demonstrate your particular interests and fields of interest to future employers.    What are we looking for? Most of all, we are looking for enthusiasm. Libertas is an important part of our brand, but we believe that there is a lot of room for improvement. A successful reform would allow us to make our message more professional and to spread our ideas much further. This means that we need enthusiastic and hardworking people in both roles.  Commitment is also important, especially for the Editor role - you should be prepared to work closely with the team and to take your role seriously. You do not need to be a native English speaker, but you should be confident in using English to communicate.  Previous experience in writing, editing and proofreading is welcome, but not required.    We are also really keen to hear from anyone with experience in illustration or graphic design who would be open to using their skills to improve Libertas. If this sounds like you, be sure to mention it in your application, or, if you want to discuss further, email Lucasta and Laia at [email protected] and [email protected].   What should I do now?  If you want to be considered for the role of Editor, please fill out the following Google form:  2021 Libertas Editorial Team Applications - Google Forms Please be aware that there are a limited number of positions available, so we cannot guarantee that you will be successful in this application. If you are unsuccessful in your application for Editor, we will automatically add you to the list of Writers.   If you want to become a Writer, please fill in this form: 2021 Libertas Writer Application Form - Google Forms   The deadline for the Editorial position is the 1st February 2021 at 14:00 CET; applications for Writers will be accepted on a rolling basis, but we encourage you to apply quickly!   If you have any questions, please contact Lucasta Bath ([email protected]) and Laia Comerma ([email protected]).
