The new Bureau of LYMEC met in Brussels, Belgium the past weekend to set the agenda for the upcoming two years and for some team building activities.
The six areas that will be given priority are:
- Democracy and structural reform
- Defence and cyber security
- Digital market and trade
- Education and labour market reform
- Environment, climate change and energy
- Migration
The Bureau furthermore decided to have digitisation as a cross-cutting theme that feeds into everything else. The areas of priority will be further explained and presented in the Plan of Action 2018-20 that the Bureau will present at the Autumn Congress.
The Bureau also divided policy areas and regional responsibilities, and decided to create task forces within the team to have a more holistic approach to the bureau work. The task forces are on communication and campaigns and on policy and fundraising.
The division of tasks within the Bureau is as follows:

Council delegate, ALDE congress delegation, ALDE Group relations
Regional responsibilities: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey
Dan-Aria Sucuri, Communication Officer
Communication strategy and implementation.
