The European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) is taking its engagement for youth politics to a new level with the launch of the new campaign #trustmeiamaliberal. LYMEC Campaign Officer Jelena Jesajana explains: ‘With this campaign we are aiming at shaping LYMECs identity and increasing understanding of liberal values and ideas among a broader audience. Thus we are hoping to build trust with our potential voters.’

The campaign will start out as a social media action and develop into a multifaceted street and online campaign all over Europe. In the beginning of the one year process LYMEC will launch a graphic design each week with statements on core liberal values combined with the hashtag #trustmeiamaliberal. Later the best statements, as voted by the followers, will be turned into promotional material. In spring next year LYMEC member organisations will campaign in their hometowns for a liberal future. President Vedrana Gujic is happy about the new concept: ‘This is a great way to engage people who are not involved in organised politics. The last European elections showed that we need to reconnect with liberal-minded people and minimize the gap between the voters and politicians. The campaign will give everyone an opportunity to reconnect with their own liberal beliefs and stand behind our common values.’

The campaign was launched at the LYMEC fall congress in Berlin. Congress delegates participated in the launch by sharing their personal reasons to be liberals.

Follow the campaign on LYMEC facebook page and join the vote for the best liberal statement on #trustmeiamaliberal!
