It’s not ok that journalists are killed in their line of work in 2018. Still this happens, even in Europe.

We must protect the safety and defend the freedom of journalists everywhere, and we need to make sure that the legal frameworks securing the freedom of press and freedom of speech are not taken for granted but actually defend these rights!

We will continue to fight for press freedom and the freedom of expression, some of the foundations of a liberal society, in Europe and the wider world. We expect action by decision-makers and a longterm strategy for the protection of journalists that will last more than just on paper.

Because too many have already been silenced.
