This European Liberal Forum (ELF) seminar is set to take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 20-22 September 2024 and aims to foster liberal leadership by bringing together the presidents of LYMEC Member Organisations.

The Young Leaders’ Meeting is exclusively aimed at Presidents of LYMEC member organisations, as well as the Steering Committee of the IMS and will focus on reflections on the European Parliament Elections, organisation growth and broadening outreach. By providing the opportunity to cooperate and share best-practices with the future liberal leaders of Europe, we also want to share ideas on how to tackle disinformation and populism, which are issues particularly spread in politics across Europe. 

Finally, this event also aims to address the challenges faced by young liberals all over Europe by bringing their leadership together on common concerns before sharing their takeaways in the local communities as multipliers.

Expected Outcomes:

• Exchange of innovative methods for political advocacy
• Blogpost for LYMEC’s online magazine Libertas
• Capacity building: contributing to innovative strategies of internal organisation and communication
• A liberal approach to counter disinformation and populism - a shared statement

The sessions during the event include:

• Framing policies towards impactful proposals for the youth
• Populism and disinformation: context and roots
• Fighting against populism and disinformation: what is our responsibility as liberals?
• Reflection on the European Elections 2024 results: What’s next? 

Applications

• REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED - the selection of participants has been made, all spots have been filled! 
• The applicant must be between 18 and 35 years of age.
• The event is exclusively aimed at Presidents (or if they are not available then one Vice-President can represent) of LYMEC Member Organisations, as well as the Steering Committee of the IMS.

Participation fee: There will be no participation costs, meals and accommodation will be fully covered.

Travel reimbursement: There will be travel refunds by ELF after the event to at least partially reimburse your travel expenses to and from Lille. Participants must buy their own tickets and request a reimbursement after the event. Please keep all original receipts, tickets, invoices and boarding passes. If those are missing, the travel refund cannot be processed.

Participants need to be at least 18 years old at the start of the event. By registering for this event you agree to our updated privacy policy and understand that your personal data will be shared with the European Liberal Forum and hotels for administrative purposes. You also agree your name to appear during the online event to other participants and to a broader public during live-streamed sessions.
