Meet the Candidates:

The upcoming LYMEC Autumn Congress in Bratislava will elect the new LYMEC Delegation to the ALDE Party Congress in 2026

The candidacy is still open until the Congress Sessions begins November 16. Candidates will be elected on a one-year mandate.


Ilija Jerković - PSG Youth, Serbia.

Ilija Jerković is the International Officer of PSG Youth from Serbia and a LYMEC Young Changemakers’ Academy alumnus. For the past six years, he has been based in Berlin, working for Schwarzkopf Foundation on youth engagement, political and civic education and bringing ideas of young Europeans closer to policy-makers. He managed a project aimed at activating youth participation around the Conference on the Future of Europe and facilitated presentation of youth perspectives to MEPs. 10 years of volunteering for the European Youth Parliament made him passionate about creating resolutions with a clear European lens on a variety of important topics.


David Grasveld -  Bundesverband Liberaler Hochschulgruppen, Germany.

I am David Grasveld, 26 years old, of German and Dutch origins. Since January 2023, I am serving as International Officer of the German Liberal Students (LHG) and was previously part of the international committee of JuLis. My academic background is in International Relations and Political Philosophy, with a strong focus on foreign and security policy. Professionally, I have gained experience in the German Parliament and several international offices of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. In my free time, I enjoy producing and listening to electronic music, travelling, and engaging in in-depth conversations with friends and strangers alike.



Andrei Tatur - Attīstībai Youth, Latvia:


As the International Officer of Attīstībai Youth in Latvia, responsibilities include expanding cooperation with other organisations within LYMEC and highlighting issues affecting the  European Eastern flank. Actively involved in assisting refugees, with a deep understanding of life across the continent. Fluent in English, German, Swedish, Latvian, and Ukrainian, and holding a Master’s degree in Economics, complemented by studies in Politics and International Relations in Sweden and Latvia.


Huub Hoven -  Jongliberalen, Belgium.


I’m Huub Hoven and have been functioning as the International Officer for Belgium’s Jongliberalen for about a year now. Besides this, I’m a student Econometrics and Operations Research at Tilburg University. Making me have a strong basis for economic, financial, and logistical matters. And my other activities give me experience with editorial, managerial, campaigning, and strategic matters.


Alicja Jakimko - Nowoczesna Youth, Poland.


I am Alicja Jakimko, a 22-year-old liberal from Poland. I serve as the Vice President of Nowoczesna Youth and as the President of the Masovian (Warsaw) Region. Currently, I am a fourth-year law student at the University of Warsaw, specializing in civil law, commercial law, and international arbitration. As a dedicated team player with experience from three LYMEC Congresses, I am committed to promoting liberal values through practical action and cooperation.


Sebas Overbeek - JOVD, Netherlands.

My name is Sebas, and I'm a 21-year-old International Relations and Law student from the Netherlands, driven by a passion for European cooperation and policy development. Currently, I am responsible for political affairs and the internal training program at JOVD, always seeking new perspectives and meaningful collaboration. I believe that liberalism thrives when we combine bold ideas with genuine curiosity about the world around us and the diverse perspectives in it. When I'm not immersed in international politics, you'll find me behind a camera, playing hockey, or engaging with the people around me.


Maarten Tollenaar - Jonge Democraten, Netherlands

I'm a 27 year old jurist with a focus on European law. I have been engaged in youth politics for 9 years now; with a focus on Europe from the start. I've served as the Jonge Democraten International Officer for the past 3 years, and have attended multiple ALDE congresses in the past, most recently (at the time of this election) as part of the LYMEC delegation to the October 2026 ALDE congress.



Joy Kamel - Jeunes MR, Belgium.

Joy Kamel is the International Officer of Jeunes MR and a former International Officer for the Fédération des Étudiants Libéraux. She has experience in international relations, youth politics, and event management, including serving as President of the International Commission of Jeunes MR Brussels. With a background in Political Science from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, she has extensive experience in youth politics and international relations. A former national swimmer, Joy represented Belgium at the highest level in international competitions.
