The European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) is seeking a motivated and passionate assistant to join our team in Brussels for six months, starting mid-January 2025, under the Bruxelles Formation “Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle (CIP)” internship scheme. This opportunity offers hands-on experience in European politics and political communication.
About the Role
As our Communications Intern, you will work closely with the Secretary-General, the Project Manager, and the Bureau of LYMEC. Your main responsibilities will include supporting the Organisation with the creation of engaging content for a variety of platforms (social media, newsletter, website etc.), understanding how to leverage them for political communication, and maintaining consistency with LYMEC's visual identity. You will also assist LYMEC with coordinating campaigns and contributing to special projects. You will be an integral part of our LYMEC office in Brussels, helping shape LYMEC’s outreach and communications efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support with the creation of social media and multimedia content for political communication and outreach purposes.
- Contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of special projects and events.
- Work closely with the LYMEC Secretariat and LYMEC Bureau on key engagement and campaign initiatives.
- Daily communications on European Politics.
- Assist the Secretary-General with general office tasks and administration as required.
Who We’re Looking For
- Politically literate and aligned with the broad liberal principles of LYMEC
- Passionate about European politics with knowledge of EU institutions and processes.
- Professional knowledge of Canva and other design tools (Adobe Suite).
- Adept at using social media to communicate policy proposals, drive engagement and monitor interactions.
- Skilled in writing and analysis
- A team player attitude, with a strong wish to learn and improve, as well as the ability to work independently.
- Available to travel for work, including occasional weekend trips (costs covered by LYMEC).
- Fluent in English (the working language of the LYMEC Office).
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and respect deadlines.
Considered a plus
- Knowledge of photography, videography, and experience with print and digital projects.
- Web design and website management skills.
