🗓️ Date: 25th February

🕖 Time: 19:00 (CET)

🔗 Topic: Ukraine’s Experience of Internally Displaced Persons.

12 years have passed since Russian forces occupied Crimea and parts of Donbas and Luhansk. For many Ukrainians, this has meant years of displacement, interrupted lives, and the persistent uncertainty of return. Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 has further deepened that uncertainty, turning temporary displacement into a long-term social reality for millions of internally displaced persons.

What does it mean to preserve identity when separation from one’s home becomes prolonged? How do communities maintain memory, belonging and civic engagement away from their regions of origin?

We are honoured to welcome two speakers originating from Crimea and Luhansk who were forced to leave their homes at the outset of the war. The discussion will explore identity, remembrance, and pathways forward for displaced communities, including the experience of Crimean Tatars and other minorities particularly affected by the war.
