This European Liberal Forum (ELF) seminar is set to take place in The Hague, the Netherlands, from 11-13 September 2026 and aims to foster liberal leadership by bringing together the presidents of LYMEC Member Organisations.

The Young Leaders’ Meeting is exclusively aimed at Presidents or Vice-Presidents of LYMEC member organisations, as well as the Steering Committee of the IMS, and will focus on organisational growth, membership development and broadening outreach.

By providing the opportunity to cooperate and share best practices among Europe’s future liberal leaders, this project aims to explore and contribute to the ongoing discourse on EU Strategic Autonomy, expanding into the concrete and fast-evolving field of Energy Security. Discussions will focus on how the European Union can reinforce its long-term resilience, diversify and secure its energy future, and maintain its competitiveness while upholding liberal democratic values

Finally, this event also aims to address the challenges faced by young liberals all over Europe by bringing their leadership together on common concerns before sharing their takeaways in the local communities as multipliers.

Expected Outcomes:

  • A platform for emerging liberal leaders to exchange strategies for effective political advocacy and engagement
  • Blogpost for LYMEC’s online magazine Libertas
  • Building stronger foundations for internal organisation and outreach
  • A shared liberal vision for advancing EU Strategic Autonomy

The sessions during the event include:

  • Strategic Autonomy & Energy: A Common European path
  • Responding to Energy Security Threats in Europe
  • Reaching further: strengthening visibility and impact
  • Crafting clear and impactful policy narratives
