From Friday 26 to Sunday 28 May 2023, the ALDE Party Congress took place in the beautiful city of Stockholm, Sweden. The LYMEC Delegation to the ALDE Party Congress, elected by the LYMEC Congress 2022 in Bucharest, played a crucial role in this significant event. Our dedicated delegation was very vocal in contributing with amendments and insights to the policy discussions. They also engaged in a proactive process to interview all the candidates, and eventually elected the new ALDE Party Vice Presidents and Treasurer.

Not only did our delegation actively participate in the policy discussions at the Congress level, but LYMEC was also engaged in the Council and Bureau Meeting thanks to our President, Dan-Aria Sucuri, and Vice-President, Ines Holzegger. 

One of the highlights of our presence at the ALDE Party Congress was our strong advocacy against chat control policies. We campaigned vocally, emphasising our firm stance on this issue. It was an honor to exchange views and engage in meaningful conversations with Hilde Vautmans, Renew Europe MEP, and Rapporteur of the file on Chat Control. These discussions allowed us to voice our concerns and contribute to shaping policies that prioritise freedom of expression and privacy.
