rom 26th to 28th September the annual Young Leaders Meeting organized by the European Liberal Youth took place in Thessaloniki. Presidents and Vice-Presidents of the member organisations of LYMEC came to Greece to reflect on the results of the European elections and draw some guiding lines for the years to come.
As LYMEC president Vedrana Gujic stresses: “Now is the time to work on the future of European Liberalism. The two main issues which are of utmost concern for all of us in Europe are our economic well-being and the security of our continent. Together with the leaders of our organisations we have decided to focus on those priorities in the months to come and combine our efforts to give efficient and workable liberal solutions for those challenges.”
This year LYMEC had a special cooperation with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation to have a special insight on the past evolution, present situation and to draw action lines for the development of Liberalism in the European basin of the Mediterranean, based on three pillars: individual freedoms, free market economy and European integration. A special focus was given to the situation in Greece.
Vedrana Gujic points out: “Understanding the problems of the EU-member states is understanding the problems of the EU. We need to get to know each other to work with each other on a better Europe.”
LYMEC wants to thank the team of Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation Hans Stein, Markus Kaiser and Athanasios Grammenos for their support and effort that made this event so special.
