Young Liberal Women Summit 

First Edition - ONLINE - Saturday, 6 March 2021 - Between 10 h and 13 h CET (Brussels time)

The EU has made it a priority to involve more women in its top leadership roles and as policy-makers, as we see currently under the Von der Leyen Commission, but women, and especially young women, still face significant barriers, both at a national and at a European level, when trying to get involved and, later, pursuing a successful career as politicians. In this event, we want to acknowledge that fact, establish a network of young Liberal women, uncover the main barriers that we face, may they be common or nation-specific, and discuss a way forward. It aims to be highly dynamic and participatory, with the assistance of high-profile role models that will help us with their experience, guidance and inspiration.   Final programme of the session: 1) Introduction, welcome and presentations - 15 minutes *Antoaneta Asenova, LYMEC President 2) First debate: “Taking the step forward: barriers and stereotypes”. - 1 hour *Karen Melchior, MEP, Renew Europe Group *Svenja Hahn, MEP, Renew Europe Group 3) Second debate: “Building a support network: let’s speak up!” - 1 hour *Samira Rafaela, MEP, Renew Europe Group *Emma Wiesner, MEP, Renew Europe Group  4) Networking – 30 minutes *Laia Comerma, LYMEC Bureau 5) Concluding remarks – 5 minutes   Main outcomes and results: info-graphic for social media on the main outcomes of the session.   #lymecwomen   This first edition of the event will take place online on Saturday, 6 March 2021 - Between 10 h and 13 h CET (Brussels time).    Target audience: Young women (between 18 and 35) in Europe that identify themselves as Liberal and are in politics or want to get involved.
